Located seven miles southeast of the heart of Los Angeles, Maywood is 1.18 square miles with a population of 28,038 residents, making it the third smallest incorporated city in Los Angeles County and one of most densely populated cities in California. Despite the City’s diminutive size, Maywood is a dynamic and growing community with a vibrant future. Reporting to the City Council, the City Manager oversees a budget of $12 million and 120 full-time employees and is responsible for the efficient management and leadership of the City’s four departments: City Manager, Parks and Recreation, Building and Planning, and Police. Fire protection is provided through a contract with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. A BA/BS is desired, and prior experience as a City Manager or Assistant City Manager is required. A master’s degree, experience with economic development/redevelopment, finance, and bi-lingual speaking skills are desirable.
